UniMAP Grabs Five Best Awards At MUCET 2014

BANDAR HILIR, 12 November- Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) won five best awards at the Malaysian Technical Universities Conference On Engineering and Technology (MUCET 2014) which was held at Mahkota Hotel, here recently.

A research paper of a Senior Lecturer, School of Microelectronics Engineering Studies, Dr. Muammar Mohamad Isa, entitled "Optimization of Gate Recess Step and Elimination of the Dome Effect for Highly Reliable and Reproducible Novel pHEMT Device" won the Best Overall Paper Award and the Best Paper Award in the category of Electronic and Electrical Engineering.

The success enables him to bring home a total cash worth RM1,000 and a certificate of appreciation.

 
Four more research papers that also received Best Paper Award were Dr. Norhawati Ahmad for the Electronic and Electrical Engineering category, a research paper entitled "Small Signal Modelling of InGaAs / InAlAs pHEMT For Low Noise Applications".

Dr. Shahrul Nizam Yaakob with the paper "Mahalanobis Quality Threshold ARTMAP for Pattern Prediction and Classification" for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) category and Prof. Dr. Bhuvenesh Rajamony "Ergonomic Assessments of Laboratory Working with Seating and Standing Postures" for Best Paper Award category in the category of Social Science and Technology Management.

The award allows them to take home a cash prize of RM 300 and a certificate of appreciation.

While Dr. Rosmaini Ahmad with the title "Product Reject Analysis using Weibull Distribution Model: A Case Study in the Automotive Parts Manufacturing Industry" which also won the Best Paper Award in the category of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering took home a cash prize of RM200 and a certificate of appreciation.

UniMAP Vice-Chancellor, Brig. Jen. Dato 'Prof. Dr. Kamarudin Hussin said the success proves that writings done by UniMAP researchers are gaining more attention in the national and international levels.

"I hope that in the future, more writings will be produced by lecturers and used as a reference for other researchers in the country and internationally," he said when contacted.

UniMAP had sent a total of 25 research papers to be presented at the conference in MUCET 2014 this time.

MUCET 2014 is a Malaysian technical universities conference that participated by four universities namely UniMAP, Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) and the host Universiti Teknologi Melaka (UTeM).
